Falun Gong Materials
A Grassroots Effort Throughout China to Report the Facts of the Persecution of Falun Gong and the True Nature of the Peaceful Practice
(12/27/2002 22:57)In China, the Communist Party leadership maintains absolute control over the nation's media. Since July, 1999, Jiang Zemin's regime has saturated television, radio and newspapers with anti-Falun Gong propaganda. In this environment, the voice of Falun Gong has been non-existant.
According to a Chinese government survey conducted towards the end of 1998, there were 70-100 million people practicing Falun Gong in China, and so a large number of people understand the practice and can see through the propaganda.
Over time, however, the continual barrage of propaganda has turned many in China against Falun Gong.
Thus, without access to any of the country's media, people have resorted to more home-grown methods for exposing the facts of the persecution and publicizing the true nature of Falun Gong. Since July 1999, a grassroots effort throughout the country has quietly gained momentum to assemble and distribute flyers, pamphlets, Video CDs, articles, posters and other materials. These materials include news on Falun Gong from the world's leading media organizations (most world news is blocked within China), statements of support for Falun Gong by foreign government officials, reports on the persecution of Falun Gong in different parts of China, reports on activities of practitioners of Falun Gong outside China, etc.
None of this information is allowed to be seen, heard or read about through China's state-run media outlets.
Therefore, without this grassroots effort, this information would not be available to a vast majority of the Chinese people, and they would be left with only anti-Falun Gong propaganda fed to them through the state-run media. (12/27/2002 22:57)
