An Entire Family of Practitioners Torn Apart
(12/3/2002 2:24)The details surrounding the final cause of Ms. Baolan Su’s death are murky, but the details of her life as a Falun Gong practitioner are crystal-clear.
In October of 1999, Ms. Su embarked on the long journey from Shandong Province to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. She was arrested and returned to her hometown by local police. Ms. Su persisted in practicing the Falun Gong exercises while in detention, suffering electric baton shocks to her neck, ears and hands from police as a result.
In the Fall of 2000, Ms. Su was captured again and illegally detained for two months. She was threatened with being sent to a labor camp and protested by starting a hunger strike until released. She was illegally detained on several other occasions following that.
In the Spring of 2001, while Ms. Su was with fellow Falun Gong practitioners, her husband reported her whereabouts to the police and she was forced to flee from her home to escape further persecution. Months later, in October 2001, she returned home to tell her family members the facts about her situation and the persecution against Falun Gong. Shortly after her return, her husband kidnapped her and took her to a brainwashing class.
A few days later that local residents found her corpse floating in a river. Su’s father and younger sister are now illegally detained in a labor camp, and her mother and other sister have been forced into homelessness to escape persecution. Only her younger brother, who is not a Falun Gong practitioner, remains at home.
