Thousands Rally in Over 30 Cities Around the World As Falun Gong Holds Worldwide 3-Day Vigil

Twenty Reports of Killings in the Past Twenty-Two Days
Falun Gong Practitioners Expose Criminals' Names and Phone Numbers to the Public

NEW YORK, January 14, 2002 (Falun Dafa Information Center) - Thousands of Falun Gong practitioners and supporters gathered in front of Chinese Embassies and Consulates around the world to conduct a 3-day vigil to condemn the recent rampage of arrests, torture, and killings of Falun Gong practitioners in China, and to expose the criminals involved. Press conferences and the 3-Day Worldwide Vigil were held in over 30 cities around the world, including New York, Boston, Washington DC, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Toronto, Ottawa, London, Paris, Geneva, Stockholm, Taipei, Tokyo, and Hong Kong.

A list of the names and phone numbers for many Chinese officials believed to be responsible for the torture and killing of practitioners in China was made available via a public Chinese-language website (see http://www.fawanghuihui.org).

These activities were instigated by reports of 20 deaths in the last 22 days. [Read full story]

NEW YORK, January 11, 2002 (Falun Dafa Information Center) - The Falun Dafa Information Center has received reports of four more Falun Gong practitioners dead from abuse and torture in custody by police.

Ms. Tai Yurong, 36, Died in "brainwashing class", relatives forbidden from viewing body; Mr. Zhang Zhenfu, 60, Taken from his home and killed by forced-feeding; Mr. Wang Tiesong, 32, Tortured to death in a labor camp, framed as "suicide" by local police; and Ms. Zhan Jinyan, twenties, dead after six days of detention, police paid relatives to keep quiet. Police Assault and Kill Falun Gong Man on Roadside As He Posts Flyers Exposing Human Rights Abuses

NEW YORK, January 9, 2002 (Falun Dafa Information Center) - Reports of two more Falun Gong practitioners that died in the past month due to police brutality have recently been verified by the Falun Dafa Information Center. In the early morning hours of December 8, 2001, Mr. He Xingzong, 55, a resident of Macheng City, Hubei Province, left his home to post flyers exposing human human rights abuses against Falun Gong practitioners. According to sources inside China familiar with this case, Mr. He was noticed by policemen from the Songbu Police Substation who then assaulted and killed him. [Read full story]

Two More Falun Gong Practitioners Die in Police Custody ON NEW YEAR’S DAY
Fatalities Mourned in Jilin Province where Falun Gong was First Taught

NEW YORK, January 8, 2002 (Falun Dafa Information Center) - Two Jilin Province Falun Gong practitioners died on January 1, 2002, while in police custody. According to sources inside China familiar with these cases, both had been detained only a short time and were in good health prior to being arrested. Jilin Province, where Falun Gong was first publicly taught, has been especially hard hit by the persecution campaign against Falun Gong. At least 36 Falun Gong practitioners are verified to have died in Jilin Province alone since the persecution began. This is more than 10% of the total 336 deaths that have been verified since 1999. "Release my Sister," Demands an Israeli Whose Sister was Arrested in Beijing
An Israeli practitioner of Falun Gong says his sister was apprehended in an attempt to stop him from protesting in Israel

TEL AVIV, January 10, 2002 (Falun Dafa Information Center) - Two days ago, Xiong Zion, a 35-year old Israeli citizen of Chinese origin received a call from his family in Beijing informing him that his sister, Xiong Wei, 31, had disappeared. Sources in China have confirmed that Wei, a former student of Berlin University and a practitioner of Falun Gong, was arrested by Beijing Police shortly after police broke into the Xion’s house and conducted a search for Falun Dafa materials. Japan Times: Falun Gong practitioner deported from China
A Japanese Falun Gong follower has said that he was deported from China after protesting Beijing's ban on the group

Hiroyoshi Sawa, a 27-year-old company employee from Kyoto, said at a news conference in Tokyo on Friday that he was forced to return home Wednesday via Shanghai after being detained and assaulted by Chinese security authorities. Sawa said he unfurled a banner that read "Falun Gong's teachings are good" and shouted the same [words] in Chinese in Tiananmen Square on Tuesday. [Read full story]

A Second Canadian Judge Upholds Decision To Bar Publication of Anti-Falun Gong Material

Montréal, Jan.11 - Québec Superior Court Judge Reynald Fréchette upheld the decision of his colleague, prohibiting a Montréal-based, Chinese-language newspaper, Les Presses Chinoises, from publishing any materials defaming Falun Gong. The court order, first ordered by Justice Danielle Grenier Dec.10th, restrains the newspaper and the author, Ms. Bing He, from publishing or distributing any materials attacking Falun Gong, its founder, or its practitioners, which are unreasonable and contrary to Canadian and Quebec law. Chinese Student Studying in Canada Beaten Up in PRC Embassy

Ottawa, December 31, 2001 (Central News Agency) - A mainland Chinese student studying in Ottawa was beaten up in the People's Republic of China Embassy during a New Year's movie party which also served as an anti-Falun Gong exhibition, the victim said Monday. Leon Wang, 25, an MBA student at the University of Ottawa, was grabbed by several embassy staff members after he took a picture of the anti-Falun Gong display boards. Wang was an invited guest to the function. "Three or four Chinese Embassy staff forcefully dragged me into a room where they hit my head very heavily. I felt my head spinning, though I didn't lose consciousness," Wang said. [Read full story]

Judgment Against High-Ranking Chinese Official Handed Down by U.S. Court

NEW YORK, December 23, 2001 (Falun Dafa Information Center) - A United States District Court entered a default judgment against the Communist Chinese Head of Public Security for Hubei Province, Mr. Zhao Zhifei. The complaint charged Zhao with wrongful death, torture, crimes against humanity, and other gross violations of international human rights. Zhao was served with the summons and a copy of the complaint last July in New York City while traveling in the U.S. The day after Zhao Zhifei was served, he boarded a plane for China and did not return to the U.S. According to reliable sources inside China, soon after Zhao’s return to China, a massive hunt for the plaintiff, Mr. Peng Liang, and other Falun Gong practitioners in Hubei Province began.
